Do you guys even remember the last time I posted a replica Panerai review? Too long ago, so why don’t do it now? Since we’ve been on the Black Friday topic for the last couple of weeks, let’s make it black. An all-black Panerai Luminor Submersible replica, how does that sound? For me it definitely sounds great, but you know me, I’m a big fan of bulky, manly watches and what is a Panerai replica if not exactly that?
Replica Panerai Review – General Outlook
I’m going to start this replica Panerai review by telling you guys its full name – Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Ceramica, also known as PAM508 if you’re a fan of the way they code their products. Like all Panerais, it has a simple and clean design and although it’s a very robust watch, it doesn’t feel crowded in any way. That’s exactly what makes it a super fun watch to sport on your wrist, it stands out very well, while being almost understated at the same time.
As I know it, the star of this replica Panerai review was released as part of the 2013 collection, being a somewhat limited edition, available in about 1000 pieces.
This is not the only Panerai ceramic replica, as you very well know, there are many others and some of them even got reviewed on this blog. I think most of them were Radiomirs, so I thought it would be a great ideas for this replica Panerai review to show off a Luminor. When talking about my favorite watch at the moment, it’s really a matter of what I like in that exact moment. They’re all great, both the Luminor and the Radiomir. I generally tend to consider the Luminor somewhat sportier, while the Radiomir seems to be a little more on the elegant side because of its more fluid shape. Anyway, let’s get back to what this review is all about.
This all black Luminor Submersible replica has a simple black dial, with minimal details on it. There’s a date window at 3 o’clock, a small seconds dial at 9 o’clock with a sweeping seconds hand and round, cream hour marks that blend in very nicely with the rest of the dial.
The bezel, the case, crown guard and clasp are all matte black, and the caseback is see-thru, exposing a killer automatic movement, but we’ll talk more about it in the next part of this replica Panerai review, the movement part.
The bezel rotates only counterclockwise, in a smooth and very pleasant fashion. The inlays on it match perfectly the markings on the dial, especially the mini-scale between 12 o’clock and 3 o’clock.
I’m very excited about the leather strap, as it really exceeded my expectations. It’s not quite like the original one, which has small cracks on it, giving it a vintage feel, but it feels very solid and the cream stitching, besides giving it some depth, also matches the markings on the dial and those on the bezel.
Overall, this baby is an awesome watch, really manly and certainly not something you see every day, so it will definitely be a keeper.
Replica Panerai Review – Movement
I think that most Panerai replicas come with a manual winding movement. This Panerai Luminor Submersible replica however, is powered by a self-winding Japanese movement. I have to mention one thing here, the original doesn’t have a see-thru caseback, but I’m glad this one has it. I love having a quick peek at the internal mechanism from time to time, especially when it’s so well cloned.
The power reserve lasts easily over a day, so if you choose to wear it everyday, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
Replica Panerai Review – Conclusions
While your basic Panerai (original) sells for about 4-5K, this baby here sells for about 20K as an original. Even for a limited edition watch, that’s one hefty pricetag. But this also is helpful for us, those who wear the replica because we don’t need to worry about too many people knowing what the original looks like, not many get a chance to see it very often.
The all-black Panerai Luminor Submersible replica is such a fun watch to wear, very expensive looking and very manly at the same time. It’s a watch that will surely get a lot of attention and I think that with the right attitude, can be worn without any pressure.
To end this replica Panerai review on a high note, I’ll leave you with the video. As always, feel free to leave your thought in the comments section below.
